University of Leicester: Postdoc/PhD BODY-POLITICS project

The BODY-POLITICS project is recruiting the final two vacancies, one Research Associateship in Old Norse Language and Literature, and a fully-funded PhD Studentship in Childhood and the Lifecourse in Iron and Viking Age Scandinavia. 

The postdoc in Old Norse language and literature is for two years, and the successful candidate will conduct a review of words, concepts, and literary motifs regarding distinctions of persons across the Old Norse literature and legal texts, heading the work-package ‘Body Language’ of the BODY-POLITICS project.

The PhD studentship is for three years, and the successful candidate will develop a PhD project develop and conduct a programme of research on the diversity of childhood experience and roles in Iron and Viking Age Scandinavia; based on archaeology, material culture associated with child-rearing and children, the osteoarchaeology of childhood and children’s remains, or similar:
