Lectureship in Latin Studies at the University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne is seeking to appoint a lecturer in Latin language and literature. This is a new, full-time, and continuing (i.e., permanent) position in research and teaching: the Allan J Myers Lectureship in Latin.

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching to a high standard at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The person will be expected to teach subjects in Latin, as well as general subjects in Ancient World Studies taught in English such as “Classical Mythology” and contribute to and develop other subjects as appropriate. Ideally the successful applicant will be expected to have a PhD in Classics or a related discipline, a strong record in research with a developing publication profile in the area of Latin language and literature, and a demonstrated capacity and experience in teaching at the tertiary level, with a passion for undergraduate teaching and supervision of 4th-year and research higher degree supervision in Latin language and literature, and Ancient World Studies in general.
