Research Assistant, Department of Scandinavian Studies, University of Tübingen

With its focus on medieval studies, the Department of Scandinavian Studies at Tübingen offers an active research and teaching environment in literary and cultural studies and narratology. As part of this focus, we are inviting applications for one doctoral research position, to be filled by 1 Oct 2022.

The position includes a teaching load of 2 hours per semester in Old Norse-Icelandic studies as well as active participation in the department’s administration. The successful applicant will also be required to undertake research towards a doctoral degree in the field of Old Norse-Icelandic studies.

Applicants should have completed a master’s degree in a relevant subject (Old Norse-Icelandic studies, medieval studies with a focus on Scandinavia) with above average results by the time they take up the position. A background in medieval English studies is particularly welcome. Applicants should be prepared to actively participate in the department’s research, teaching, and administration. Proficiency in German is not required, but applicants should be willing to learn German.
