Professor of Medieval History – Karl-Franzens-University (Graz)

The professorship will be responsible for the subject medieval history in the European-Mediterranean area in its temporal and thematic breadth in research and teaching. A focus on at least two sub-epochs and a theory-based approach to the history of institutions is preferred. In research, participation in the faculty’s focus on the Mediterranean in terms of content and organisation, interest in the basic disciplines and a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation are also expected. In teaching, participation in the range of studies for the subject History (BA-, MA-, doctoral programme and teaching training programme) in the entire breadth of the subject is required. An outstanding publication output, international experience, proven teaching experience, success in attracting and carrying out scientific (especially third-party) projects, experience in supervising final theses at all levels of the Bologna Process, the ability to work in a team and leadership qualifications are all required. We also expect gender mainstreaming skills.

Alongside the usual requirements, please note that this role assumes excellent knowledge of German and English, as well as outstanding knowledge in at least one Romance language (FR, IT, ES).
