The Bergin Fellowship Scheme at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) honours Professor Osborn J. Bergin, first director of the School of Celtic Studies, and one of the outstanding Irish scholars of his generation. The aims of the Bergin Fellowship Scheme are twofold. Firstly, to make available to promising researchers near the start of their career a small number of relatively well-resourced medium-term positions in a world-class research environment from which to develop their academic careers. Secondly, to stimulate the research programed of the School of Celtic Studies with periodic infusions of new people and ideas.
The award of DIAS Fellowships is based solely on the following criteria:
- The candidate’s research record and promise.
- The quality of the research proposal submitted.
- The contribution of the proposed research to the overall research interests of the School.
Fellows will be appointed on the basis of a fixed-term contract of up to five years. The deadline for applications is 15 April 2022.
