Instructor – Art History – University of Colorado

The Art History Program within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts invites applications for a full-time, in-person instructor. We are seeking a dynamic instructor with expertise in Ancient, Medieval and/or Early Modern Art prior to 1700. Geographic area of expertise is open and we welcome a scholar who teaches from a broad global perspective. Curatorial experience and/or interest in museum studies is also desirable. We encourage applications from members of groups that have been marginalized or underrepresented in the field of art history and higher education and who will contribute to the breadth and diversity of our program.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Art History or related field
  • 2 years of experience teaching at the college level
  • ​​​Experience teaching, or expertise in the form of research focus and/or publishing, in art history in a global context prior to 1700 (geographic area of focus is open)

Preferred Requirements:

  • PhD (or ABD) in art history or a related field; and candidates with equivalent professional experience.
  • Expertise lending itself to enhancing global perspectives in art history and visual culture.
  • Curatorial experience or interest in museum studies.
  • Interest in developing courses that diversify the current curriculum by addressing historically marginalized and underrepresented cultures in art history.
