Australian School of Celtic Learning – November Online Events

The Celtic Languages – Placenames Webinar

This webinar will look at Celtic placenames and what they can tell us.  We will look at interesting, quirky names of places, and at the elements that betray an underlying Celtic presence in an area.  We will consider how placenames are put together – how languages can be combined and how words might change when put into a placename.  The changes that placenames go through from early forms to the present day will be reviewed.  We will also dip into the journey of some Celtic placenames from Europe to Australia.
