MEMC Lunchtime Seminar – Madi Williams

Polynesia 900-1600: An Overview of Aotearoa, Rēkohu, and Rapa Nui

The Middle Ages are very much a European phenomenon. Despite this, there is much to be gained by expanding our line of sight to include other areas such as the Pacific. In her recent work, Polynesia, 900-1600, Madi explores the European Middle Ages in the South Polynesian context. In this talk, Madi will outline some of the methodological challenges and opportunities of undertaking this type of research, in particular, the benefits and limitations of the source materials will be discussed.
