The Cluster of Excellence at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität, Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill three Postdoctoral Research Associate positions commencing from 1 March 2022. We are offering three fixed-term full-time positions until 31 December 2025. The Cluster of Excellence incorporates the disciplines of: history, political science, sociology, Catholic and Protestant theology and law, representatives from Islamic studies, Islamic theology, Jewish studies, Egyptology, classical and early Christian archaeology, philosophy, philology, art history and ethnology complete the interdisciplinary spectrum.
Applicants need to have a completed doctorate within a relevant field, as well as an active presence in academic conferences and outreach. English skills are essential, and German skills are desirable. The applicant is also required to submit an outline for a research project that is connected to one of the Cluster’s research fields (preferably with a postcolonial perspective and an empirical focus):
- Transcultural entanglement and disentanglement
- Religious diversity and legal-political unity
- Criticism of religion and apologetics
We particularly welcome projects that examine asymmetrical power relations that occur when different religions come into contact. We understand a postcolonial perspective to be applicable to various historical periods and geographical areas.
